As a children’s book author, I’m reflecting on 2025 with gratitude and excitement. From Christmas events to repeat readers, this year has shaped what comes next.
Thank you to everyone who supported my children’s books this year. Every purchase, message, share, and review truly helped.
Many children received my books for Christmas, which made the season extra special. Knowing my stories reached so many young readers means everything to me.
Christmas Events and Life as a Children’s Book Author
Attending Christmas events was a highlight of 2025. I loved meeting families and talking to young readers about my books. Seeing repeat customers return to buy more stories was incredibly exciting.
Thank you to everyone who visited me at Christmas events and continued to support my work as a children’s book author.
Balancing Writing, Work, and Family
This year, I plan to focus more on marketing my children’s books. While I gained followers in 2025, I also lost some. Balancing writing, work, and being a mum can be challenging.
I’m trying to manage my time better between marketing and writing and to try new approaches. I already have a few ideas planned. If there’s something you’d like to see more of, or something new, please let me know.
Writing a New Chapter Book Series for Ages 6–10
My new children’s book is taking shape. The illustrator has completed the first rough sketches. This stage is always exciting. Seeing a story come to life never gets old. The picture shown with this blog is one of the rough sketches – I love it! More info to follow soon!
This book is part of a new chapter book series for ages 6–10. I’ve drafted the second book too in the series, and both books have been proofread and edited.
My aim is to release the first two books in the series around summer this year. While the illustrations are being finalised, I’ve started drafting book three. I have so many ideas for this series!
I’ve wanted to write this chapter book series for years. Finally creating it feels incredibly rewarding. I have many ideas planned, so the books should flow naturally from one to the next.

Why I Continue as a Self-Published Children’s Book Author
I received another publishing offer for this series. After a solicitor reviewed the contract, they advised changes. The publisher chose not to amend their standard terms.
Because of this, I decided to continue as a self-published children’s book author. This choice allows me to keep creative control and publish at my own pace.
Goals for 2026 as a Children’s Book Author
As I look ahead to 2026, I feel excited about what the year may bring. I always set achievable goals:
- Increase book profits compared to the previous year, even by a small amount
- Publish the first two books in my new chapter book series for ages 6–10
- Continue enjoying the author journey
Whatever goals you’ve set for the year ahead, I wish you a healthy, happy, and enjoyable year. Thank you for supporting my work as a children’s book author.
